Halloween poems
A fun resource which supports students with writing Halloween-themed poetry. The focus is on rhyming at the beginning, not the end of the line. Teacher instructions are included.
There are also three example poems for students to take inspiration from. Students' completed poems would make a lovely classroom display if illustrated!
Instructions for students from the resource:
- Choose a subject for your poem that you could associate with Halloween.
- Build a rhyme-bank of words linked to your chosen subject.
Here are some examples if you choose Ghost as your subject:

- Now it’s time to write your poem. Play with lines/sentences that put your rhyming words at the beginning before trying to write your whole and complete poem. As you do this, new rhymes and ideas will come to you.
