How to be brilliant at research
This detailed PowerPoint lesson takes students through the process of undertaking research.
Students pick their own subject and practise making notes using TED-Ed talks (there are talk links included in the slide notes, but any short talk would work). There is also a focus on using mind maps as an effective note-taking tool.
This resource would also work well as a tutor time activity, or could be a useful starting point for English students' own spoken presentations on a topic of their choice.

TED Talks are often on topics that we want to find out more about. But you don’t you have to be an expert in the first place to deliver a talk. You can go and do some research, find out some facts and present these in an interesting way to your listeners.
Which topics on the board might you want to research? Write three of the questions in your book.
