It's good to talk

A useful introduction to the features of spoken language and working with transcripts. Using spoken language data from Big Brother 3, this resource develops students' understanding of key discourse features and builds their confidence by identifying the key features of spontaneous speech including discourse, pragmatics and phonology, and attitudes to language (prescriptivism and descriptivism). Students also learn about transcript conventions. Includes a range of engaging extension tasks for students and answers for self-marking.
