The people of the Titanic
This popular KS3 reading comprehension and retrieval practice resource is designed to encourage students to find out about real passengers on the Titanic. Images and biographical information are included in a PDF fact file, and students answer a set of questions on what they've read to develop their reading, skimming and scanning skills.
There's a link to the film trailer for context, and an extension activity for students to write a letter to one of the survivors.
Example reading comprehension questions from the resource:
- Who was a millionairess and how did she get her fortune?
- What was the name of the person who designed and built Titanic?
- How many children did the Goodwin family have?
- Which of these people had opened a big department store in New York?
- Which two of these people would not normally have had to row boats in their lives, but found themselves doing so?
- Which person took charge of a lifeboat?
