How to describe a picture in French
Practise describing a photo in French using these five colour photos with prompt boxes to help students think of what to say.
The photos show various outdoor scenes with people doing a range of free-time activities. The prompts remind students to consider the following information when doing the picture description task:
-
where the photo was taken
-
who the people are
-
what they are doing
-
what they are wearing
-
what the students' opinion is of the picture.
The first photo is a model answer, providing examples of what students can say or write for each prompt.
This worksheet is great to train students on how to describe a photo for the GCSE speaking exam or to revise for the Foundation writing question.
For useful language for describing people, see Describing photos: family and friends.
The prompt words from this activity:
- Où?
- Qui?
- Météo?
- Activités?
- Opinion?
- Vêtements?
