KS3 French reading: What is my house like resource
Designed for KS3 French students as they explore ways to describe their home environment, their family and their home experiences. This engaging resource builds on previous knowledge about French description, descriptive adjectives, numbers and family members to support further learning.
The resource can be used as a speaking and listening activity, with the reading and writing tasks employed afterwards to support deeper understanding of key French vocabulary elements.
How to use this resource
A great way to support your KS3 French learners as they explore new ways to describe their home, this resource contains three different home descriptions that include family, design and colour aspects. Students can read the descriptions aloud and then work independently or in pairs on the activities.
There are a number of accompanying tasks that reinforce learning and help students to expand their knowledge with more complex elements to strengthen language acquisition.
This resource could also be used as a homework activity.

Bonjour ! Je m’appelle Marie-Claire.
J’habite dans une maison de taille moyenne avec deux étages. Au rez-de-chaussée, il y a un salon moderne. En face du salon, il y a une grande cuisine et une salle à manger.
Au premier étage, il y a cinq pièces: la chambre de mes parents, la salle de bains, ma chambre, la chambre de ma sœur et la chambre de mon frère.
Ma pièce préférée est ma chambre parce qu’elle est confortable et les murs sont verts (c’est ma couleur préférée). Je n’aime pas mon salon parce qu’il est petit.
À l’extérieur, il y a un grand jardin mais il n’y a pas de piscine.
