How to use this resource

A clear introduction to using French descriptive adjectives at KS3, this resource contains a number of activities that help students build their understanding of descriptive adjective use, in particular relation to their home, belongings, colour schemes and design.

The resource starts with vocabulary matching and then progresses through identifying adjectives in a short text, word order, and agreement. It ends with a translation and writing task. A great introductory resource to use with year 7 classes.

Task two: Word order sorting activity for adjectives.

MOST adjectives go AFTER the noun they are describing. There are some exceptions, however. Read the paragraph and sort the adjectives into the BEFORE the noun and AFTER the noun columns.

J’habite dans un grand appartement au centre d’une ville moderne dans le sud de la France. Dans mon appartement il y a une cuisine jaune, un salon lumineux et bleu, une salle de bains rose et rouge et ma chambre verte et blanche. Ma mère habite dans un petit et joli village au bord de la mer. Sa maison est très rangée.
