Tangled translation: là où j'habite
This French tangled translation text about one's house and home town was written for year 8 students but may also be suitable for year 7 or year 9 depending on ability.
The paragraph contains a mixture of French and English, and students must 'untangle' the two languages, translating the French to English or the English to French. Students can then use the text as a model for writing a description of where they live.
The text features room names and simple likes and dislikes. It includes some language chunks that students may not be able to analyze on a grammatical level, such as je l'aime and il n'y a pas de , but they can still learn and use them in their speaking and writing.
An extract from the French version of the paragraph:
I wouldn't want to live in London because it's too big. In my house, there are two bedrooms and a living room. There is also a kitchen and a bathroom. I like it because it is very modern. Unfortunately there is no garden.
