In this engaging lesson, students revise vocabulary for family members – including stepmother/stepfather, adopted brother/sister and half-brother/sister – review possessive adjectives and read texts in which two teenagers describe their diverse families. The descriptions refer to single-sex couples and divorced parents.

The PowerPoint presentation displays the questions and answers and provides the opportunity for students to write about their own families or imaginary families. It also includes a delightful poem or chant about different kinds of family.
