An ideal key stage 3 resource for the run-up to Christmas. Students practise their map skills and learn some fun festive facts in the process.

The PowerPoint presentation recaps what latitude and longitude are and links to a video clip of how to plot them. Students then locate coordinates on a world map to identify in which countries a whole range of festive traditions are observed.

The festive traditions include:

13.79° N

88.89° W

6.   There are firework displays on 24th and 25th December. Children celebrate with sparklers, known as estrellitas (little stars).

36.67° N

138.65 °E

7.   A KFC feast is eaten as a Christmas meal.
