This festive board game reviews German Christmas traditions, vocabulary and expressions. It is intended for students who have learned past, present and future tenses but could be adapted by changing some of the wording.

It can be printed out and used in small groups or else projected onto the board for whole-class use.

The game provides some support around the edge of the board, but this can easily be removed for differentiation purposes. On the squares that contain pictures only, less-able students could just say the word in German, while the more-able could be asked to provide a full sentence using various tenses and/or opinions, or to ask a question based on the picture.

Vocabulary and expressions include:

  • die Drei Könige
  • der Schneemann
  • Fröhliche Weihnachten und ein gutes Neues Jahr.
