Did Mary I deserve to be called 'Bloody Mary'?
A flexible card sorting activity to help students answer this key question. Teaching notes are included and suggest ways of using the cards including axes with descriptions such as 'A weak, tragic individual' vs 'A good, strong queen' and 'A good Catholic' vs 'A vengeful persecutor of Protestants'. More creative possibilities include using the cards as the basis of a role play, in which Mary is put in trial.
