School comparisons
Student colour code a short Spanish text comparing secondary and primary school. They identify words they already know, words they can guess in context and key words that they need to look up in the dictionary.
This is followed by a matching task, with phrases in Spanish and English taken from the original text, to support students in understanding it. These could be used to differentiate, with more confident students translating the text without support. Answers are included.
The PowerPoint encourages students to analyse the sentences on the worksheet and to deduce the grammatical rules for forming comparative sentences. A sentence race completes the presentation – how many correct comparative sentences can they create using the writing frame?
