Odd one out-algebra
A nice lesson starter looking at simplifying algebraic expressions.
Students are given a nearly-correct algebraic magic square and asked to collect like terms to find the box with the odd one out. They can then correct it so that the rows and columns of the magic square add up to the same expression.
They are then challenged to create their own algebraic magic square.
