Practical maths: Card trick

One of our series of 'Practical maths' activities, great for in-class and remote learning. Get KS3-4 students thinking about the maths involved in everyday home-life activities. They are suitable for all ages and abilities; families can easily get involved, and students will produce a diverse selection of work to hand in.

The first part of the task is active: learn how to perform a card trick. The second part is to think: what maths is involved in this activity? The third part is to then ponder a range of questions on various topics, graded in difficulty.
