Statistics introduction task

A KS5 maths worksheet resource that can be used as an introduction to A-Level Year 1 Statistics to assess prior knowledge.

Students are given one out of 8 statements. In small groups they must plan how they would prove or disprove the statement by thinking about:

• methods used to collect the data
• ways to record the data
• which statistical measures are appropriate to use
• ways to present the data
• ways to report the findings for their statement

A final sheet is provided - Statistical Measures - Definitions.  This can be completed within each group to summarise their knowledge of each measure.
