Two-piece jigsaw

A KS3-4 maths investigation to develop skills in geometric reasoning and mathematical vocabulary.
That activity starts with a simple task of cutting a square into two pieces and using the jigsaw pieces to find a range of other geometric shapes. The following investigation can be adapted to different year groups with these suggestions given:
- Year 7 - labelling lines and angles and classifying different shapes
- Year 8 - using parallel lines and transformations
- Year 9 - using Pythagoras' Theorem and ratio
- Year 10 - looking at cyclic shapes
Extension questions are also included.
