Waves and red shift revision - survival!
This fun KS4 physics revision activity, for use with higher or lower attaining groups, is based on a tropical island survival task:
'You have found yourself stranded on a small, tropical island with no food, shelter, water or fuel. You have discovered that the island’s inhabitants are only too happy to supply you with the essentials, providing that you share your vast scientific knowledge with them.
You need to produce a poster, report or bullet list that includes the answer for each question.
Adding extra details to your answers will increase your points. At the end of your journey count up how many points you have accumulated to see how well you were able to survive!'
Put students into small groups to answer a set of three tasks on sound and light waves and red shift. The more effective their answers are, the more points they are awarded for water, shelter, food and fuel. Includes marking criteria and guidance.
