This sorting activity on the stages and steps of the scientific method is suitable for any GCSE science class as it applies to required practicals for biology, chemistry, physics or combined science.
Students review the theory of how to conduct an experiment by putting the seven stages into the correct order and then matching the more detailed steps to the relevant stages.
The stages include planning, drawing conclusions and evaluating the investigation, while the steps include making a prediction, identifying anomalies and judging reproducibility.
The activity can be done onscreen or as a cut-out card sort.
