Languages challenge
This resource was designed for KS3 students, to mark the European Day of Languages. It can be used as a fun activity and no prior knowledge of the languages in the resource is required. Students are given one simple sentence in eight different languages to analyse – Danish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian and Spanish.
The aim of the worksheet is to encourage students to become more aware of patterns in different languages. It could be used as a starting point for discussion about the similarities and differences between the languages that they are learning at school or other languages that they might speak at home.
Ideas for support and extension are included as well as answers.
