Developing extended answers
A step-by-step guide to help students write responses to long-answer questions using the BUG and PEEL techniques. It encourages students to consider the number of marks available, include case studies and structure their answers into an introduction, three paragraphs and a conclusion.
Examples, including a model answer, are given in the context of the exam question 'Explain how the process of counter-urbanisation can lead to rural decline.'
The resource also includes explanations of the command words 'assess', 'describe', 'evaluate', 'explain' and 'to what extent'. It will be useful for all students, but particularly as literacy support for those with SEND.
