Social and economic change in rural Britain
This resource looks at the social and economic changes in the rural landscape. Students focus on the changes taking place in two contrasting rural areas - the Outer Hebrides and Cambridgshire. Students complete a team teach activity to make comparisons between impacts in an area of population decline and in an area of population increase.
Firstly, students complete a Venn diagram showing the social and economic impacts of population change on their allocated area and then share this information with their partner who has studied the contrasting location. Teaching notes are included to offer guidance and management ideas for the task.
