What is COP28?

  • COP28 stands for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.
  • At COP, delegates from nearly every country meet to negotiate global goals for tackling climate change.
  • Each country will present its individual plan for contributing to those goals and reporting on its progress towards its previous goals.
  • Each year the conference meets in a different city. Last year it was held in Sharm El Sheikh.
  • COP28 will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates from 30 November to 12 December 2023.
