Poème: les crayons
This French resource is based on Corinne Albaut's short poem, 'Les crayons'. The poet imagines what colouring pencils might draw at break time, when left to their own devices. It is ideal to get students used to reading short and accessible literary texts.
The worksheet encourages students to identify new vocabulary which rhymes with colour words, by matching them up. Students then use a dictionary creatively to write their own version of the poem.
As an extension activity or homework task, students could memorise some or all of the original version, perhaps to perform to the class or to record. A link to the original poem online is provided in the teaching notes.
