A PowerPoint exploring the Mayan number system, looking at the symbols used for zero, one, five, twenty and four hundred. Children are asked to work out how much different Mayan symbols represent. They go on to convert numbers into Mayan notation.
This would also be useful as an introduction to algebra. Suitable for KS2.
