A useful historical enquiry starter activity which encourages children to make inferences from a 1940s photograph of life on a canal boat. Children write down ten facts or observations based on the picture, using the prompts to guide them. This could also form part of an interactive display: enlarge the picture and invite the children to make observations on sticky notes to add around it!
Suitable for KS2.
