This comprehensive guided reading resource is suitable for Y4-Y6 and features comprehension questions and activities based on A Year Full of Stories by Angela McAllister.

The pack includes a teacher-led guided reading session for each of the five stories followed by a post-read activity. Questions include those that focus on information retrieval and inference skills, grammar and word meanings.

Sample questions from the resource:

  1. What do you know about traditional stories? What are their features?
  2. Can you spot some fronted adverbials that have been used in the story? (Clue – they often tell you when, where or how that part of the story happened and are followed by a comma).
  3. Write a newspaper article about what happened in the story. Remember to include an introductory paragraph (who, what, when, where) and some quotes from key characters.
  4. What is the moral of the story?
