This comprehensive guided reading resource is suitable for Y4-Y6 and features comprehension questions and activities based on A Year Full of Stories by Angela McAllister.
The pack includes a teacher-led guided reading session for each of the five stories followed by a post-read activity. Questions include those that focus on information retrieval and inference skills, grammar and word meanings.
Sample questions from the resource:
- What do you know about traditional stories? What are their features?
- Can you spot some fronted adverbials that have been used in the story? (Clue – they often tell you when, where or how that part of the story happened and are followed by a comma).
- Write a newspaper article about what happened in the story. Remember to include an introductory paragraph (who, what, when, where) and some quotes from key characters.
- What is the moral of the story?
