A resource to practise language for TV, and likes and dislikes, using Gianfranco Conti's narrow reading technique.

Students read four very similar texts about young people's viewing preferences. They underline all the parts that are exactly the same in all the texts and work on comprehension of the parts that are different. They then translate one of the texts into English and write their own paragraph using the French texts as a model.

The resource also includes:

  • identification of opinion phrases, time phrases and adjectives
  • a 'vrai, faux ou pas mentionné' task in the style of the AQA GCSE reading exam (2016 specification)

but can be used to support any key stage 3 French unit of work on television and film.

One of the texts from the worksheet:

Moi, j’adore regarder la télé. Je regarde souvent les infos. Je les adore. À mon avis, Stranger Things est fantastique parce que l’ambiance est géniale. Cependant, je n’aime pas les émissions de sport car je les trouve ennuyeuses. Ce soir, je vais regarder une émission sur l’environnement.
