Tu aimes quel genre de films? Première partie
This KS4 French resource teaches the vocabulary for film genres in French and practices expressions for giving opinions.
The resource is in two parts.
Part 1 focuses mainly on genres of films and simple likes/dislikes. It includes some straightforward oral practice and translation of short phrases into French, including French film titles that are the same as or similar to the English ones.
It includes the following French movie genres, among others:
- horror movie
- an action film
- a science fiction movie
- an adventure movie
- a documentary film
- westerns
- cartoons.
Students then have the opportunity to write an advert for a film club and carry out a role-play about going to the cinema.
Part 2 focuses on more complex opinions, including justifications and comparisons.
One of the model dialogues from the role-play task:
A: Shall we go to the film club tonight?
B: What's going on? / What's playing?
A: Les Miserables
B: What kind of movie is it?
A: It's a musical.
B: Yes, I will. I love musicals. When does it start?
A: At seven-thirty.
B: Where are we meeting?
A: Meet me at my house at 7:15 ?
B: Alright.
