Northampton DME
A thorough and beautifully presented GCSE decision making exercise about how to protect Northampton from flooding.
As a starter activity, students review types of river management, including forms of hard engineering and soft engineering. Next, they study and describe the location of Northampton to understand why it is at risk of flooding. Then then watch a video clip and read a news article about previous flood events.
Students rank existing flood management strategies from most effective to least effective and then present a costed plan for new flood defences to the Environment Agency.
