A reading text and comprehension questions about the three Atlantic storms that hit the UK and mainland Europe in February 2022: Storm Dudley, Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin.

The resource can be used to introduce the case studies, to boost students' understanding of natural hazards in general, and of weather hazards in particular, and to improve learners' disciplinary literacy by focusing on reading skills.

Students match the impacts to the storms and then identify social impacts, economic impacts and environmental impacts.

An extract from the sorting cards:

One million homes were left without power.

500,000 people lost power to their homes.

Widespread flooding occurred, affecting more than 400 homes.

Heavy and persistent rain was experienced throughout the UK.

17 tornadoes were experienced across the UK.
