Numerical and graphical skills: biodiversity
Last updated: 15/11/2023
A lovely resource that shows KS3 and KS4 students what can be done with data.
Students use the results of a fieldwork investigation into plant species on the school playing field to calculate the mean, mode, median and range for each type of plant, with an explanation of how to perform the calculations.
They then create a pie chart of percentage cover and describe what it shows, with questions about frequency and biodiversity provided to guide them.
Finally, they consider other suitable ways of presenting the data.
Answers are included.
