The shape of the quadratic function

Determine the overall shape of a graph – if it's possible! – when given information on a, c and the discriminant (b² – 4ac). You can choose whether to use the cards for a matching activity, sketch the graphs from scratch, or come up with the conditions when given the graphs.

This is an easy to follow practical exercise that allows students to think about the quadratic in terms of a, b and c and the impact they make on the graph shape. A great resource
