Handa's Surprise

A free visual and colourful resource by The Bell Foundation to develop vocabulary based on the story Handa's Surprise by Eileen Browne.

Which seven delicious fruits did Handa put in her basket to take to her friend Akeyo, and what animals do we meet on her journey there? These collaborative flashcards, loop games and bingo games aim to develop the vocabulary for fruit and animals that are introduced in the story in a fun and interactive way. The substitution tables consolidate and extend key vocabulary and provide further opportunities to scaffold learners' writing of simple sentences.

The resource is suitable for learners using EAL who are new to English, or are at the early acquisition or developing their competence stage.
