Apartheid
A resource designed to support students' contextual understanding of apartheid as they read Nought and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. Students are given information about key apartheid laws including The Mixed Marriages Act and The Bantu Education Act. They are then asked to answer a series of questions about the rules that were enforced and why they were enforced.
Finally, they are asked to look at a selection of images from South Africa during the apartheid and think about how the images make them feel.
This resource is useful for any text set in South Africa during the period of segregation.
