AQA GCSE English Language Paper 2 questions
Comparative practice paper questions for AQA GCSE English Language Paper 2: Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives.
There are two exam-style comparative questions (in the style of question 2 and question 4 from Section A of the AQA exam paper) for students to attempt for targeted exam practice.
Students are asked to compare two non-fiction texts, a 19th-century biographical text by Victorian writer Elizabeth Gaskell (Source b) and a 21st-century non-fiction article (Source a).
A mark scheme in the form of suggested answers for self- or peer-marking is included, along with exam top tips, timings for each question and assessment objective strategies for AO1 and AO3 to help students to understand how to gain the maximum number of marks possible.
The reading non-fiction mark scheme includes a summary of the differences between the two texts and the different point of view of the writers, as well as how the writers use language techniques, such as emotive language, sentence structure and other language features (such as pronouns, connectives, alliteration, and key words).
