The Water Babies reading comprehension questions
This reading comprehension resource is effective in supporting KS3 students in their analysis of texts. It can also be used as a year 6 transition activity or to help KS4 students with an introduction into Victorian literature or as a broader exploration of historical context.
The resource includes a variety of pertinent reading comprehension questions on Chapter 1 of The Water Babies by Charles Kingsley, enabling students to dig deeper into language, literary and technical analysis to increase their confidence in textual investigation and authorial motivation.
In addition, there's a creative writing activity to help stretch and challenge students who can use the text as a springboard into more independent and imaginative explorations.
With an answer sheet provided, this resource empowers both teachers and students to move textual response on to a more advanced level in preparation for both GCSE English Language and Literature in later years.
