Writing non-fiction: words to dazzle
A selection of activities based on developing students' vocabulary for writing non-fiction.
Students match each word with the correct definition, before practising using some of the words in their own writing. They reflect on the most effective and grow their own vocabulary as well.
An answer sheet is provided, including the correct definition and a model sentence for each of the featured words.
This activity would work well alongside any non-fiction writing task, particularly when students are required to express a personal opinion or present a line of argument.
