Last one standing: Spanish present tense regular verbs
A whole-class activity suitable for KS3 and KS4 to categorise regular Spanish verbs and develop translation skills. It's also a fun way of practising listening skills and reading aloud.
Each student is given a sentence in Spanish. When they've worked out what it means, they stand up. Once everyone is standing, the teacher reads out each sentence in turn. Students should read their sentence back when they hear it and then sit down. The last student left standing is the winner.
Students then have the opportunity to work on time expressions and present tense verb forms (-ar, -ir and -er verbs) before translating all the sentences from Spanish to English.
Some of the sentences from the 'Last one standing' activity:
Me encanta la fruta pero odio las verduras. |
Ellas corren por el parque dos veces por semana. |
Yo recibo muchos regalos por mi cumpleaños. |
