Area of 2D shapes review

This challenging KS3 or KS4 area review resource is designed to help students develop problem-solving strategies and review area by using logic and the algebraic manipulation of formulae.

Students will need to have secure knowledge of finding areas of:

• rectangles
• triangles
• trapezia
• parallelograms
• circles
• compound areas (including circles)

Students can be stretched to find exact answers by leaving irrational numbers in their answers. The last question pushes KS3 students to research the formula 1/2absinC for calculating the area of a triangle.
