This fun, competitive game for KS3 can be played in small groups. Students take it in turns to roll a dice and fill in the grids with factors of different target numbers.

Game instructions from the worksheet:

How to play

Each square in the grid has two target numbers (one for each row and column).  Your aim is to fill the grid with numbers which are factors of both these target numbers.

  1. Take turns to roll the die to get a number. Choose the best place for that number in your grid. You must place each number you roll and once you have placed a number it cannot be moved.
  2. Continue to roll until all players have filled their grids (nine rolls each).
  3. Calculate your score by looking at each row and column in turn; you get one point for each correct factor (this means each individual square is potentially worth two points).  The maximum score is 18.
  4. Compare your score with your teammates – the player with the highest score wins!
