Pip in the churchyard

Teaching ideas and lesson activities to help KS3-4 students explore a lengthy extract from Chapter 1 of Great Expectations. 

Students are encouraged to focus on Dickens' power of description through activities such as drawing the scene from the first three paragraphs, writing a script between Pip and Magwitch or creating their own set of comprehension questions to hone their close reading and textual analysis skills.
