Casse-langue: the sound [i] in French
Last updated: 15/11/2023
Students listen to and repeat simple tongue-twisters beginning with the phrase 'Lily lit le livre ...' to practise the pronunciation of the letter 'i' in French.
The PowerPoint also introduces the concepts of silent final consonants (with 'lit' and 'dans') and liaison before a vowel.
Students then have the opportunity to practise their own endings to the sentence using various places in the home and at school.
This resource makes a great starter and would tie in well with a lesson on the theme of studying or the topic of free-time activities.
The sentences practised in this resource:
- Lily lit le livre dans le living.
- Lily lit le livre dans une limousine.
