This GCSE French resource helps students to prepare for the photo card task in the speaking exam or Foundation tier writing exam. It can be used as an introduction for KS3 students or as exam preparation for KS4 students who are aiming for the lower grade bands.

Using the mnemonic PALMW, students practise simple sentences for describing people, action, location and weather in answer to the AQA exam question 'Qu'est-ce qu'il y a sur la photo?'.

The resource would also be suitable for practising answers to the Edexcel question 'Décris-moi la photo' for the speaking exam or 'Écris une description de la photo' for the writing exam.

The first two PowerPoint slides present a model answer and useful phrases; the remaining three slides provide practice.

The colour photos of Senegal fit particularly well with the AQA (2016 specification) topics 'free-time activities' and 'travel and tourism' and the Edexcel (2016) topics 'daily life' and 'holidays' and 'travel'.
