Thirty-two cards with eight different formulae, given with four different subjects. Students must rearrange the formulae to organise them into eight groups of four equivalent formulae, each with a different subject.

Formulae include fractions, quadratic terms and roots.

Extend the activity by omitting some cards or check answers by substituting values.

'@Vicky - surely the square root would inherently have a positive and negative solution? Writing the positive and negative square root almost masks this fact.

It would also be very useful to number or label each card, to allow for easier checking of answers

This is a great task to use at the end of teaching of this topic, but when square rooting, the answers should include the positive and negative square roots. Students would lose marks for only showing one solution.
