Pronouncing words like 'je' and 'deux'
Students spot homophones in a grid by colour-coding the words that have exactly the same pronunciation. They then practise saying the words in isolation, in short phrases and then in complete sentences.
The resource assumes prior knowledge of 'liaison'.
Answers for the colour-coding task are provided on the PowerPoint slide.
Note that some words may be pronounced slightly differently in different francophone countries or regions.
An extract from the resource:
Now try saying these sentences in pairs.
Don’t forget to make the ‘liaison’ between a final consonant in one word and a vowel at the start of the next word.
Speaker A: Ce jeu est ennuyeux. (This game is boring.)
Speaker B: Ce jeu-ci est mieux. (This game here is better.)
