The Bell Foundation

The Bell Foundation aims to improve the educational outcomes, opportunities and inclusion of children and young people who use English as an additional language (EAL) in UK schools.

To achieve this, the Foundation offers over 170 free, evidence-based resources for working with EAL learners in the classroom, including the award-winning EAL Assessment Framework and digital Tracker, and quality-assured training for school staff informed by the latest research.

A wealth of guidance, including a number of ‘Great Ideas’ articles, can also be found on the Foundation’s website providing strategies for empowering EAL learners. This is alongside guidance for parents and carers on the education system, available in 22 languages, as well as an extensive body of research offering insights and recommendations on various aspects of EAL policy and practice.
